Our oldest attends Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. So we've had the opportunity to visit this small city several times over the last couple of years. Every time we go I end up searching Zillow looking for a house to buy. I really like this town. Spokane is being discovered. Sort of like Bend, OR 25 years ago. Wonderful 4 season climate, lots of outdoor activities and a growing foodie scene. We've visited fall, winter and spring...I guess the only time I haven't been there is summer since my kid is usually home.

Here are some of my favorite spots to visit and eat:
Madelines (https://www.madeleinesspokane.com) I love the chocolate croissants!
Thrifting: Spokane has a great selection of thrift stores. 2 of my favorites (and over the years I've been to 10-12 in the area) are Global Neighborhood Thrift (https://gnthrift.com) and NWCS Thrift on the North end (http://nwcsthrift.org)

Atticus Coffee (https://www.atticustea.com) Great little PNW themed gift shop attached.
Aunties book shop (https://www.auntiesbooks.com) Not quite Powells but a very pleasant book store.
Title Nine (https://www.titlenine.com/home.do) bought my favorite down coat here...still get compliments on it 6 years later.
Phonthip Style Thai restaurant (https://www.phonthipstylethai.com) Ok, it looks a little hole in the wall from the outside....but the food is EXCELLANT! I've been to the restaurant at least 8 times and every trip has been wonderful.
Whitworth (of Course) (https://www.whitworth.edu) We love this school. I definitely feel that my kiddo is seen and encouraged here.

Riverside State Park (https://parks.state.wa.us/573/Riverside) We've camped at two different campgrounds within this state park: Equestrian and Bowl and Pitcher. The first night Bowl and Pitcher was full so we drove out to the Equestrian camp and found a spot. Lovely high desert pines! The second night we opted to move a bit closer to town and electrical hook up. Also, there is some nice hiking too.

And of course, the Waterfront. (https://my.spokanecity.org/riverfrontspokane/) there is almost always something going on down here. During my flight attendant layovers, the hotel was nearby and I loved going for a walk to people watch. I even inadvertently became part of a wedding once! I still haven't gotten to fully experience the ice ribbon though. It's on my to do list.
